The reason for the difference in naming is due to the historical development and local traditions of the respective cities. In some cases, such as "Dom zu Mainz" or "Dom zu Speyer," the word "Dom" is used to specifically refer to the cathedral in those cities. On the other hand, in cities like Cologne and Limburg, the word "Dom" is used as part of the proper name of the cathedral, such as "Kölner Dom" or "Limburger Dom." This naming convention reflects the unique cultural and linguistic characteristics of each region. **
